This dream came after briefly waking up from first part of this dream. I am working for the same organization dedicated to the containment of paranormal creatures, except now I have been promoted from my low level position to a rank somewhere in the middle. Whereas before I was working in an underground lab, now I work in an office that is completely outside. The office is seamlessly blended into nature, with cubicles and office supplies located on a mossy riverbank, natural logs and stumps used as tables and chairs, and a deep channel of flowing water located throughout the outdoor office that everyone used to move around.
A young guy swam up to me and told me he'd give me a tour of the office. First, we swim with the current to a long strip of dirt with a row of log tables. People were hunched over the logs furiously filing paperwork. The guy told me this is where I'd do the majority of my work. He pointed me to my tree stump desk then proceeded to show me around the rest of the office. We get to a small, glass room that houses what look like normal cubicles with regular office chairs and desks. The people inside this room wore very fancy suits. He walks me over to a desk piled with paperwork and told me this is my other desk. Yikes! I better get to work! I look around my cubicle and notice that my cubicle mate is a teacher I had in high school, KB. I immediately worry that he will think I'm bad at my job since my workspace is cluttered with so many papers. I decide to bring some of my work to my outdoor stump desk, as that seems like a much more pleasant place to work. Before I can get to the water to swim to my desk, I fall through a small hole in the ground.
I land in a small, colorful pool of water. I can look up and see the sunny light of day coming from the hole I fell through. I get up and look around. The room I fell into looks like an ornate bathhouse, with fancy painted tiles with floral designs and a big, pretty pool in the middle with crystal-clear turquoise water. Large wooden crates are placed all around the sides of the room. Dream logic tells me that I have fallen into the underground lab meant for only the highest ranking officials of the organization. This is where they must keep the most secret and dangerous of creatures! I hear scratching coming from the crates, and some begin to rattle and shake. I am very curious what kinds of creatures are detained here!
The dream cuts to me talking with the male coworker who showed me around the office. I tried to tell him about the lab I fell into, but he told me I was lying and that the lab was only an office rumor. I bring him to the hole I fell through, but when we peer down we just see an empty, old abandoned lab (no ornate bathhouse, pool, or crates). He laughs at me and leaves. I think to myself that the organization found out that I found the secret lab and somehow moved it to keep others from finding it. I wasn't supposed to find that room! I go back to my desk in the glass room and start on paperwork. Two men wearing hard hats bring in a tall, rattling crate and plop it on my desk. They instruct me that higherups have tasked me with killing the creature inside without opening the crate. I see this as either a punishment for finding the secret lab or as a test to see if I can be promoted to actually work with the creatures we contain. I'm excited at the thought to tell Elizabeth and Anne all about the creatures that exist! Claire Saffitz from Bon Appetit walks up to me and hands me a small kitchen knife (it looks just like my knife with a yellow plastic handle and an iridescent sheen on the blade). I approach the crate and try to get in quick little stabs at the creature. My tiny blade is somehow able to penetrate the thick wood of the crate, and I hear the creature inside roar and start to shake the crate. A health bar appears below the crate and starts to drain to red as the creature's health depletes. The bar stopped right at the end, so I try to do combo moves with multiple slashes and stabs to try to finish off the creature. For some reason my attacks no longer do any damage, and I am met with a painful scratch on my arms from large, sharp claws. I worry I might not be able to defeat this thing! Then I woke up!
