Anne: Stuck in the Upside Down

Robert and I part ways from a sorority house. Dream logic tells me that we were dog sitting for a sorority girl. I'm going to an appointment. I have my GPS on for some reason even thought I've been to the building a million times. I take a highway that reminds me of a combination of driving on US23 and I-64. I see a five-car pile up happen in the two lanes next to me and have to swerve my car to avoid the wreck. The wreck involves a tractor trailer and several small cars and a blue jeep. We all exit our vehicles and someone phones 911.

I realize I shouldn't be on this highway and try to check my GPS to make sure I typed the location in properly. I can't seem to figure out how to type the place I'm looking for and can't seem to hit the write letters to correctly type it in. HS, a girl from my high school, is behind me (yay a familiar face!). She tells me I can get to the road if I turn around at one of the medians. Unfortunately, there are too many cops and I'm worried I'll get a ticket.

I call Michelle and she agrees to come get me from the other side of the highway (extremely dangerous, but okay). Suddenly the atmosphere changes. It looks as if someone put a red lens over everything. The place becomes dark and I hear screams. Michelle pulls up from the other direction. No one is going that way which I find suspicious. Michelle gets out of her car to meet me. I see people walking up the exit ramp. They look WEIRD. Think MadMax Fury Road weird. One woman is strapped to a woman's waste by her feet and has razor sharp, shark teeth and blood shot eyes. Blood is dripping from her mouth. One man has a cage over his head and is wearing army gear.

He pulls out a gun and aims it directly at Michelle. I raise my hands and start running towards him in front of Michelle screaming for him not to shoot. He hits me instead. I feel a deep pressure right above my stomach. I cover the wound with my hands. Blood is pouring out. I fall to my knees. Michelle screams to me but I tell her to get in her car and drive away. The woman with the teeth comes to me and laughs maniacally. She begins to bite at my arm and legs. The pain is excruciating as if I'm getting a ton of shots at once.

The scene changes and I wake up on the road of the same highway. I have no scars or any blood on me whatsoever. The cars are still there but everyone is gone. It looks like the upside down in stranger things 4. I have no idea how much time has passed. I see a building ahead that's wooden but in pristine condition. Music is coming from it with flashing lights. I go in and it looks like a typical country bar with pool tables and people sitting in booths and tables talking.

There is a single glass door that I see people coming through. There are a TON of people coming in and a security guard blocking the exit. I consider escaping through it and making a run if I can shove through the people. I lock eyes with Robert. He runs up to me and hugs me tightly and kisses my head. He asks me how I'm alive and how he always wanted me to walk through doors. He never thought it would actually happen. He tells me he thinks we're in some type of limbo and reality is behind the glass door. We scheme up an escape plan. He grabs my hand and escorts me to the bar, shouting for his boss that he's leaving. We run towards the glass door and push through the people. We make it out.

The sun is shining. The place feels deserted but there are houses everywhere. We run down the street hoping no one follows. We come across the old Ironton bridge, guarded by an old man. We are attacked by a bunch of birds. I grab one by the neck so they don't bite us. I end up breaking it's neck (super morbid but alright). The man says "you passed the test." We cross the bridge, hand-in-hand, and make a run for safety.
