In my dream, I was playing golf on a very hot, sunny day. My ball was in an enormous sand trap just off the green, and was near the bunker wall. As I entered the trap and began walking through it, I realized that the position and lie would not make the shot impossible. I have minimal experience with sand so I was not feeling confident with the shot at all.
As I addressed the ball, I saw movement in the grass at the edge of the bunker. It was my cat – Miss Beans. I was a bit angry with her because I knew she intended to use the sand trap for her litter box. I stepped back from my ball and ordered (scolded) her to turn around and go home to do her business. Of course, she did not, but sensing my ire, she sauntered around to the far side of the trap (in no hurry), stepped into the sand and started scratching around. “Damn you,” I said.
Just then, I looked down and saw a perfect T-shaped black shark’s tooth by my shoe. As I bent over to pick it up, I realized the trap was littered with shark teeth – some quite large. I began picking them up and putting them in my pocket. I set my club down in the sand so that I could use both hands to collect teeth. The club sank (like quick sand) and disappeared, which alarmed me.
I looked over and Miss Beans was still scratching around in the sand. I was afraid she might sink. I tried to walk over to her, but my feet were completely stuck (though still on top of the sand...I was not sinking). I called Miss Beans to come to me. After calling for her several times, she started toward me, but was walking too slowly. Then I saw a shark fin come up out of the sand and start toward her. The shark was “swimming” fast and was going to eat my precious kitty. I started shouting at her to HURRY, but she would not...then I woke up.
This dream happened the night after driving home from a beach vacation. I picked up many shark teeth on the beach while there, but on the last day, I found the largest tooth I’d ever found in my life - a real prize! I also played lots of golf on vacation. On my first night home, Miss Beans kept me awake most of the night. She laid on top of me and purred loudly.
