I came back home to Marie's (mom's) house. The house had been extensively renovated and was now a rich person's mansion. Somehow it still belonged to Marie in a way, but she wasn't there. I realized that they had renovated around my old room, which for many years has belonged and still belongs to Anne, because I hadn't cleaned it. Many months ago I had a dream about cleaning that room, and when I walked in it, I noticed that it looked just like I left it in that dream. I went in to start cleaning it and getting my stuff out. I noticed that the walls and carpet were bright pink and I thought to myself, "Ah, Anne has redecorated it a little bit." As if Anne would change the carpet and walls without cleaning up my mess that was all over the floor.
The house also belonged to Grandmother W. and Aunt M., and it also belonged to strangers. Throughout the dream ownership seemed to shift. I picked up on strange information as I was cleaning. The house had many rooms added. Aside from my old bedroom, it looked completely different and had nothing to do with Marie. There was a "couple" that the house belonged to, but it wasn't Marie and Otis and I couldn't really pinpoint who they were. I do remember being shown their bedroom. They had taken one small room and turned it into two giant rooms connected. The layout was pretty strange: you walk in the woman's side and directly in front of you is a bathtub surrounded in glass jutting out of the wall. You can look through the glass and see the bed. They thought that would be a clever way to add a bathroom. The rooms joined each other at an angle and in the crook of the angle, also to the right of the woman's door, was a maid's room surrounded in glass. She had a disheveled lounge bed with hideous sheets, but she liked being there in the middle so she could be on call for anything her master or mistress might need.
I was having a party here. Very rich people, some of them royalty, were going to be coming. The house was a little messy, I had a lot to do. The party was supposed to start at 6:00 and it was already late afternoon. I didn't have any food fixed and the house still had several rooms that were not company ready. I did have a few half eaten pizzas that I was going to heat up in the oven. I know I had some other things, but I'm not quite sure what they were. I set off on foot to invite people from the neighborhood to my party. The yards were made of wet, spongy sod. Some of them had concrete supports to help you get your step as you climbed the yard, but in many yards, I remember the feeling of stepping on the sod and having brown, muddy water pool around my toes and get in the tops of my shoes as my weight pressed down the grass.
I don't know how I ended up in a car. I might have needed to go somewhere to pick up some supplies. I was in a car with one of my guests and I was on the way to the venue. I had thought before that the venue was the house, but we arrived and it was a real, commercial venue. I was surprised and I walked around. There were people there selling cheap, junky antiques. It looked like a junk expo. I realized that my guest had gotten the location wrong. We needed to figure out the address to the party so I could get back, try to finish cleaning, and get some food going before the guests arrived. As we were about to leave the venue, I realized I had left my hat behind. I went back for it and a female guest about my age that was also traveling in the car came with me. The venue sort of turned into a disney-esque street, only junky. I saw my hat up ahead on a table at the right and I grabbed it. There was some kind of trouble getting back. There was a bad man who slowed us down somehow. I think he was an old carpenter or other tradesman, and I think he was a pervert. I didn't see him, but he had a dark presence and I knew he was bad. He had set some obstacle in our return path to try and slow us, but we got through it surprisingly quickly and didn't get held up. (Thank you, brain).
When I got to the house, I was relieved to see that the guests hadn't arrived. I threw some pizza into the oven to heat up and then the first guest arrived. It was someone I work with or used to work with, I'm not sure who. I was worried about having to entertain her while trying to scramble around getting ready, but there was a pool on the patio and she was interested in that. A few more guests arrived and were interested in another pool. Thank goodness.
The party went fine. My Aunt M. helped me with the food and I felt guilty for putting so much work on her. People had fun. I knew we didn't have enough food, but we never seemed to run out. I was stressed about the food the whole time, but other than that, there were no problems.
