Anne: Squid Game 2.0

I am not exactly sure where I am but I find myself in my bedroom at Marie and Otis's house. I am trying to barricade an intricate door. There are three doors to this confusing lock mechanism. The first door only latches and the second I have to really pull on in order to shut. The third contains three different locks that connect to the other doors. Each time I try to lock the door, someone tries to run in my room. I understand that the infected are coming and I need to get this room shut quickly. I manage to only let in Michelle, a teenage boy with brown hair and a red ball cap, and a little black girl no more than 10 years of age into my room. We can hear people pounding on the door. The boy keeps his back against it just in case the locks aren't properly in place.

The black girl seems strangely calm. She tells me help is coming and that we all need to pack. This help is taking us to a gated area. It seems very vague but I'm under the impression that we'll be assigned jobs and start a new world. Michelle and I are nervous because we haven't prepared a packing list (this seems very on brand for us in a time of peril). Michelle and I frantically throw some clothes in our backpacks. We both agree we will be taking at least one nice outfit with us just in case we need to make a good impression (of course). I do worry about the infected being right outside the door and decide we should climb out the window and onto the roof.

I can't remember how but Michelle and I make it to an area by a river. It kind of reminds me of an entrance to a theme park with a large iron fence and gate. We see a few boats pass us by. There is a fountain just at the main entrance. The teenage boy and little girl are no longer with us but I understand that this group of saviors have taken them in already. A man opens the gate and lets us in (pretty bold to assume we aren't infected looking back at this). We enter and two men pat us down and take our backpacks. They place our backpacks on a conveyer belt where they are rinsed with some mist. I assume it's some kind of disinfectant. They hand us pink jumpsuits and tell us to put them on. These are our uniforms. They take us to an area that is filled with assorted vending machines. This looks like a child's heaven. Some of the machines have candy. Others have cookies and toys.

We are behind a glass window that looks onto a large group of children, all ages. They seem excited by all the candy and novelties. Michelle and I exchange worried glances. Something seems off here. A man in a long, silver cloak and armor stops us. He hands us masks and tells us we must wear them. He says this is all part of a "game." The children will play and we judge. After each game the winners get a prize. I whisper to Michelle that this seems a lot like Squid Game and that I don't want any of the children to get hurt. The silver man explains that this is a survival game between the children, their morals, and the infected. The grand prize goes to the last child standing. He gives us a pamphlet detailing the order of the games. This first one is a take on hide and seek. The children hide and a few infected individuals are set loose. The goal is to not get bit/found. Those that do are forced into a room with the survivors where the children must decide to let them turn or let them die (truly horrific!). There are several other games listed like hopscotch, chutes and ladders, and twister. I wake up thankfully before any of the games begin!
