Anne: Spanish Test Quest

<One fallacy I read about dreams is that people cannot read phrases while dreaming because that part of the brain is inactive. Yet, I read books, signs, and phrases in my dreams all of the time. This dream in particular was full of reading.>

The dream begins with me being on a quest of some sort to defeat what I can only describe as bosses. I defeat one who resembles Ganondorf from Legend of Zelda but less bulky. He says that he has to help me with the next boss because she is challenging. I follow him to a muddy cliff surrounded by a wooden fence and gravel. In the middle of the area is a muddy lake. Ganondorf man leads me to the lake and begins to walk into it. I ask him why we are walking into the lake when we can simply go around.

"We have to awaken her," he responds.

All at once a woman in a red flamenco dress with long black hair starts to twirl on the water. Ganondorf man and I run out of the water and step up onto this wooden dock that has a blue cloth canopy. The woman reaches us and says she is going to test our minds. My chemistry professor from undergrad, Dr. Vanness, is proctoring a Spanish test. The test requires that we match Spanish phrases to cards with the English translation. The cards have pictures on them to provide hints to the translation.

"I don't know Spanish but I know Latin so I'll try to help any way I can," I reassure Ganondorf man.

One card has the word "alba" on it. I find an English card with the word white on it. I match the two together because I know "alba" means "white" in Latin. Dr. Vanness tells me my answer is incorrect. I try to argue my point but it doesn't work. Meanwhile Ganondorf and the woman are getting some matches correct. The next one has to do with a dragon because I remembered "draconis" means dragon. But again, it's wrong. I am infuriated at this point and tell Ganondorf that I am going to give up and just let him do his thing.

"Why are we taking a Spanish test and not fighting?" I ask.

"That is her native language and we must learn it," he answers.

<My senior year of high school, I was taking both Latin and Spanish classes. I'm not sure if this is somehow correlated with that fact. I was playing Super Smash Bros. before going to bed so the Ganondorf-like man makes sense. However, the other major players of this dream seem to be a mystery.>
