I am showing the lab I work at to Marie, Otis, Michelle, and Robert. The lab is in a large building with multiple rooms attached. Each room has a specific science oriented theme. My favorite that I show Marie and Michelle is a sloth exhibit close to my lab. There are several trees with sloths hanging down. I get lots of cute pictures and send them to Robert (I guess he didn't want to see the sloths). Michelle gets concerned because she says she sees the remains of a bush tree fruit bat hanging from a tree (I don't think this is a real bat?). I am a little nervous because I don't understand how a sloth could eat a bat but remember in one of my classes talking about how prey can become predators if food sources deplete. This eases my mind a little.
Marie reaches up to pet a sloth and it bites her. I sense something is wrong. I see a little girl in the distance and she is covered in blood. I understand her to be infected. I realize my phone is dying and need to reach Robert and Otis somehow. I try to get my phone charger from Marie but she is already acting weird. I tell Michelle that we have to go to the lab because I can lock the doors and we can exit through a vent in the ceiling. Of course everyone is in a panic and following me to the lab.
Somehow I get separated from Michelle. I sprint into a locker room since everyone is turning. A girl tries to run in with me but I shut the door and lock it before she can get in. There is a blonde girl putting stuff in lockers and a girl from my high school, LM, is in a room just off of the locker room that is made of glass with grassy hills inside. This room exits to the outside world. I plan to open one of the windows and make a run for my car. However, I'm not entirely sure where my car is in relation to where I am now. I decide the best solution is to download the Toyota App and pay for the hands free. That way I can start my car without my keys and find it quickly. The coast looks clear so I make a run for it.
I find my car and it appears that everyone is evacuating town. My car is driving slow so I decide driving on the highway isn't a good idea. If people start turning, I won't be able to drive away fast enough. I take a back road in hopes of finding Robert and/or Otis. I come across another car. A boy from my high school, JTH, is driving it. I think to myself that I don't want to be alone (worst idea ever, dream me!) so I follow him. We stop near a house with a burning car in its yard. He exits his car and approaches a woman. A group of dogs run over to attack the woman and eat her. They remind me of the dogs from Resident Evil.
JTH runs to my car and we drive off. He warns me of the road up ahead. The road is lined with stingray-octopus creatures that periodically smack their tentacles onto a road and drag people away (very much like a video game obstacle). It makes a distinct sucking sound. There are also parts with sticky mud that can hinder the drive. JTH advises me to listen carefully for the sound and after I hear it to go ahead and drive past. It is important that I pay attention to timing so if I am to get stuck in the mud, I can get away from the tentacles. We make it to the end of the road.
