Anne: Put Your Game Face On

Last night I had two dreams that were unrelated but vivid. The first pertained to a job interview I do have on Monday but the second was out there!

I arrive to my job interview and the lab seems strange. This blond lady leads me down a hallway that has no windows and made of cement. It reminds me somewhat of a hallway you'd see in a zombie movie or the basement of an old building. She badges in to an equally just as dark room that has a glass lab adjacent to it. The room is filled with electric controls probably to control the machines in the lab. She won't let me into the lab but she lets me stand outside while she explains the tasks I would be doing for this new job.

She opens up an incubator and takes out a giant blood agar plate marked with a "B." I think to myself how unusually large this plate is, but maybe they come in this size. She tells me I'll be doing Kirby-Bauer tests (a test to check for microbial susceptibility). A group of middle school and high-school aged kids go into the lab to demonstrate how I perform this task. They take out quarter-sized, clear disks and tell me that I have to really shove them onto sections of the plate (normally this is performed with paper disks about the diameter of a number 2 pencil).

The lady then leads me down a long, regal staircase to and outdoor area that is available for public use. There is a nice restaurant in the center (still outside). The tables are covered with white napkins and candles in the center. The chairs also have fancy, white chair covers. The place is booming! It seems that hundreds of people have shown up to eat at this restaurant. The lady hands me a gray, sherpa blankets since I am cold outside and tells me just to drape it over myself since I don't have a jacket. As we walk through the restaurant, my blanket keeps getting caught on the chairs and I knock them over. She is telling me all about the history of this place. We make it to a gazebo and she speaks to me in a very demanding tone.

"Next time you come here, put your stuff on the staircase. We don't want you scaring the customers away because of you knocking things over!"

My next dream begins with Michelle, Elizabeth, Marie, and me walking through the woods towards a cabin. The cabin is located in an opening among the trees and no roads or sign of civilization can be seen.

I feel uneasy as we walk towards it, almost as if we are running from something. We're walking like ducks in a row with Marie as the leader and me trailing behind. Marie stops and tells us to listen. We hear music in the distance. She seems worried and tells us to get into the cabin immediately. The music grows louder and I can hear cheering of a crowd of people. I ask Marie if I can go investigate, she tells me I can but if it's a cult, then I'll be in trouble unless they chop my head off and eat me for dinner. For some reason, I am willing to take this risk.

I walk up a hill and come to a high school football field. There is a game going on but there aren't very many players. There are several cheerleading teams on the sidelines but only about one or two cheerleaders per team. I see a girl I went to high school with KR and she's dancing. Her dance is very boring and not appealing to the crowd. She just kind of bounces around and flips her hair. I see an old friend CB and tell her that we can definitely do better. We choreograph a dance that encompasses many different styles. I tell her we'll have music that switches from hip-hop to jazz to musical theater and to lyrical.

We wear short beige dresses and have our hair in pigtails. We begin with a lyrical routine that is really weird. We do intricate turns and leaps but it almost seems childish. I turn to her and do a weird leap over her similar to leap frog. The music transitions and it is our musical theater number. Our costumes change miraculously. We each decided we'd get a 15 second solo for musical theater. I do mine to "All that Jazz." Then it transitions to a hip-hop dance to Hollaback Girl .

We're dressed as cheerleaders, keeping our pigtails. Our uniforms look like the blue, cheerleader outfits from the Sims 2. The hip-hop routine is a crowd favorite and I can tell KR is jealous. We amp up the sass with fierce arm motions and poses. Even the football teams stops to cheer us on!
