Anne: Carnival Games

Last night consisted of multiple dreams (my cat does a great job of waking me up at multiple times during the night). These two, however, really stood out to me.

A former coworker, SM, and I are going to work (let's call it "pharmaceutical company" for the time being). The current pandemic has gotten worse so we are annoyed to even be going. SM explains to me that she wants to be a hairdresser and that they do more than just hair. She could make a difference by fixing hearing aids, if she goes to cosmetology school. I tell her about my dreams of doing house design. I open my laptop and show SM and my former manager, SW, the houses I design on Sims. They both agree that maybe I should do house design instead of pharmaceuticals.

An alarm goes off and SW tells us it is time to take our pills. I guess they have finally put a prophylactic drug for CoVid on the market. I look at the pills. They're hot pink and can only be taken during the day (NOT the evening!) or something bad would happen.

"Hey, this is what they give people for RSV!" I exclaim (so I guess it's acetaminophen or maybe ribavirin??). I am annoyed because I am under the impression that they are just pumping our bodies full of medication.

The scene changes to SM and I in an old house. We are hiding from someone. We sneak out to a fair ground that looks like it's in the middle of a parking lot of a shopping center. There are multiple food trucks but the funnel cakes catch my eye. I check my pockets and realize I do not have my wallet. I am disappointed. SM is now a cosmetologist and says maybe they'll give us funnel cakes for in exchange for a pedicure!

In the next dream, Robert and I are at King's Island. The place is practically deserted because of Coronavirus. We approach The Vortex (in real life, this roller coaster officially closed down this year). I tell Robert the bad news that we can't ride it because they shut it down. I feel awful because I know this is his favorite ride (in real life, Robert HATES roller coasters because he gets so motion sick; I can't imagine what his actual reaction to The Vortex would be).

There are two workers standing by the entrance in gray polos. There is the most cliché family sitting on a wooden bench next to us. The dad is wearing a maroon polo with khaki shorts and white new balances. There is a boy and girl, brother and sister, that are less than 10-years old. The mom is also wearing khaki shorts and a tucked in green tank top. They have no expression on their faces. The workers explain to Robert that they're not sure if the ride will ever be open again. Robert is disappointed and tells me this is the only reason he wanted to come here.

I tell him we can just ride the Diamondback and play the little duck game he likes so much (???). We turn and see the family on The Vortex. I moves slowly and tells the history of The Vortex while you ride it. There's a little water part at the end for the kids.

"Eff it. Let's just do it. I want to ride The Vortex," Robert requests.

I complain to him that I don't want to get wet at the end. He insists we won't get wet and this was the sole purpose we're here. I groan and hope for the best.
