Anne: An Extravagant Engagement

I'm on a beach vacation with Marie, Otis, Robert, Michelle, and Michael. We all know Michael is proposing to Michelle. We sit down for dinner at an outdoor restaurant that has multiple levels. The restaurant looks out towards the beach and a few parking lots of neighboring buildings. There are tables lining a path that leads to some wooden stairs built into sand dunes. We're at a table in the main dining area that is fenced in with a sandy stone floor. Michael excuses himself. Marie and I exchange excited glances.

A string quartet begins to play. A brass section eventually joins in. Before long, a whole orchestra appears. A man dressed as Santa Clause comes out of a set of doors. He takes Michelle's hand. Michelle is noticeably embarrassed and apologizing to the people around her saying things like "oh God I suspected this was going to happen" and "I'm so sorry for the disruption. Please try to enjoy your dinner." The Santa man leads her up the first set of stairs. At the entrance of the new level is an aisle led by a red runner rug. The aisle is lined with international Santas clapping their hands.

The original Santa man leads her to a small golden box, small enough to hold an engagement ring. Michelle opens it. There's a drinking glass with an engraved "E" filled with water and some bedazzled miniature dragons. Michelle seems confused by appreciative nonetheless. Santa man leads her up another flight of stairs to the next level.

Again, the aisle of this level is lined with people clapping. Robert is at the end of the aisle and gets down on one knee. He hands her a small, red box (not sure why he was involved but alright?). He opens it and there is a little envelope with some Japanese writing. Robert does an arabesque and runs off to the side of the aisle to stand by me (again, why did Michael incorporate choreography?). Michelle seems confused yet again but appreciative.

The Santa man leads us all to yet another level. This one has an entire choreographed dance with people grabbing Michelle and lifting her up to make her the center of the dance. At this point she seems very uncomfortable. I'm trying to find Michael to make him put an end to this.

Finally we are led to the last level of the restaurant. Michael is standing at the end of the aisle in some form of Indian garb. His hands are behind is back. Silently, he walks up to Michelle. Michelle seems very hesitant and unsure of his next moves (a reasonable reaction at this point). I woke up just before the proposal!
